Events That Inspire Action

Some of the most important and provocative films being released are documentaries. In our 24-hour news world dominated by celebrity culture, the documentary is unique, allowing viewers to delve more deeply into topics of concern and be inspired to take action. The group viewing experience of a film is a great motivator for prompting further research when people start discussing the issues in the lobby and take it to the streets.

The Arusha Centre’s Action Film Series screens timely and challenging films and links them to the Calgarians working on those issues as well as local musicians and artists. Action Films showcases subject matter which is linked to local issues and have the potential of inspiring viewers to take local action on issues of global concern. This means that the films are introduced by local researchers, performers, activists, specialists, or the film makers themselves.

Each of the Action Films is available from the Arusha lending library to Arusha members. Learn more about all of Arusha's projects at arusha.org.
